Anti-Virus Programs

Every computer needs a good anti-virus program installed on it - bar none!

Anti-virus is absolutely crucial if your computer is connected to the Internet in any fashion - especially sending and receiving emails.

But even if you never access the Internet with a standalone computer, you should have some protection installed on it. All it takes is one infected floppy or CD that one of your children pop into the drive or something you have borrowed from a friend.

It is much easier to protect your computer than it is to try recovering data or reinstalling everything - Remember the old saying; an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! :)

There are several good programs on the market today. The responsible companies quickly update their databases whenever a new virus is discovered and make it easy for you to obtain those updates - many of them will do it automatically for you, if you so choose.

However, in using several of the top-name brands, we found they tend to contain excessive overhead and have a dramatic slow-down affect on the normal operation of our computers.
