How to do it rightWe used to have a terrible time getting the chemical balance in our pool just right. And, we found out we were wasting a ton of money in the process! Our first mistake was using test strips to check our chemical balance. These are fine for a quick check after you get things where they need to be, but I honestly don't recommend them even for that. Buy a good chemical set and use it weekly. The test strips are just too difficult to read. I never could get the colors on them to match anything on the bottle that told you the status of your chlorine, PH and alkalinity. We even tried one of the electronic testers that reads the color of the strip for you. Save that $50 and buy a set with the little bottles of chemicals. I am convinced they are much more accurate. Anyway, before we got the chemicals in our pool under control, we were dumping 4 or 5 three inch tablets in the chlorinator at a time and shocking the pool every week and still could not keep our chlorine levels up to where they should be. The hot sun here in Arizona would dissipate the chlorine almost immediately. We were wasting money on chemicals and still didn't have the proper balance in our pool. We fought this for several years until we finally ran across This little gem got us on the right track once and for all. We finally got our chemicals under control and stopped wasting money. It showed us how to get our PH and alkalinity into proper balance, which in turn cut way back on the need for chlorine. We use less three inch tabs and very seldom need to shock our pool. And it is crystal clear all of the time. Click on our pool below to start saving money and the big hassle of pool maintenance. |
